Getting To Know Our Team Members: Spotlight On Our Optometric Technician, Angie!
As you know, here at Beaumont Family Eye Care, we’re honored to have you as our valued patient! Our goal is ALWAYS remarkable, one-to-one patient care… Thanks to our amazing team members!
Today, we’d like to tell you a little bit about one of the awesome people who helps make this possible: Angie!
Angie is a 34 year old mother of three who has been working in the optometric community since 2002. She has worked with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and specialists and is constantly advancing her knowledge and understanding of her field. She shares her beautiful home with her two teenage boys, Zak and Blake, her five year old, Gracie, and her new puppy, Sofie.
We recently put Angie in the hot seat and asked her some questions so you can get to know her better…
When you’re not here working, what are your favorite things to do?
Anything that puts us in the sun! We love going to the beach, going fishing, hiking, or just about anything that gets us outside. The kids are just as active as I am, which is great for me! They’re always up to travel somewhere new or go back to some of our favorite places. We all love being in the water, so the first time we have a chance to run off to the creek or the river, we’re gone! When the weather is bad or we can’t make it out of the house, we love to pile up and watch movies together. The kids are hilarious and we’re always laughing when we’re together.
When you first started working here, what were your first impressions of the office and the team? Have those impressions changed?
I felt very welcomed and accepted into my new work family. They did everything they could to make the transition easy and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for. When I first started here, Gracie was only a month old. I entered into an office of 7 other mothers and they were there for me every step of the way. If anything, our bond as family has grown with time! When we get new employees, it’s like a long lost sister (or brother) has finally come home. We fit together like puzzle pieces in this place!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love our patients. That sounds cheesy, doesn’t it? But I really do! I love talking to people and hearing their stories and connecting with them in ways that you wouldn’t think you can connect with a total stranger.
Some of our patients have been coming to see Dr. Cass for years and it always touches my heart when they remember me or ask for me by name. Some of them even remember my kids and ask about them. I keep photos of my kids around just to show off to our patients.
If you didn’t work here, what kind of job would you be doing?
I would totally do cosmetology! I’ve always thought I had the personality to be a cosmetologist. I love helping people with their hair and nails, and I love talking with them. I’m such a bubbly and enthusiastic person that I know I would have a great time talking and working with my clients.
Now, getting me to do my own hair or make up is a whole different story! But Gracie and I are always looking at new things to do to our nails or her hair on Pinterest or Facebook, I think I’ve handed down some of my girly tastes.
If you could tell someone one thing they didn’t know about your job, what would it be?
I think people might think my job is a little more complicated than it is. Most of what I do is communication. As long as patients can communicate with me, doing my job is a breeze. I’m there to make sure they get the highest quality eye care available and I want to make it easy and pleasant for them. That’s part of the fun of having patients that come back to us for years and years, not only do I have your medical history from last year, but I also remembered you just got a new dog last time you saw us. By now, he’s a year old and I want to hear every puppy story you have!
